Academic interests

In her dissertation Louisa Boulaziz researches how ‘repeat lawyers’ affect judicial behavior and influence decision-making the European Court of Justice. Furthermore, she investigates how the gender of the judges may impact judicial outcomes and whether judges may favour specific litigants or claims in the European Court of Justice. She will also examine whether men and women have equal opportunities before the Court.  

Louisa Boulaziz’ research interests include political and judicial behaviour, legal mobilization, EU institutions, political values and beliefs, comparative politics, and more general, research on decision-making, policy and gender differences.

Background

Louisa Boulaziz holds an MA in and BA in Political Science from the University of Oslo. In her master dissertation she examined the impact of private lawyers on the decision-making of the European Court of Justice. Her thesis received a Fritt Ord grant and was later presented at ECPRs general conference.

During her MA Boulaziz worked as a research assistant at PluriCourts and collected data for the IUROPA project – a multidisciplinary platform for research on judicial politics in the European Union. Boulaziz has also worked as a teacher assistant in quantitative applied methods and taught statistics and R to MA and BA level students. Furthermore, she was also a teacher assistant in a social science introductory course (Examen Facultatum). Boulaziz has also made online teaching material for students at the political science department, aimed at helping students enhance their quantitative research skills and understanding.
