Faglige interesser

Dr. Fjelstul er politisk økonom og dataingeniør. Forskningsinteressene hans dreier seg om de politiske aspektene ved etterlevelse av internasjonal rett og EU-retten, implementering av politiske vedtak i EU, og internasjonale domstoler og EU-domstolen. Hans metodologiske interesser inkluderer spillteori, kvantitativ tekstanalyse, maskinlæring, og kausalitet i evalueringen av politikk.

Forskningen til Fjelstul har fremkommet i ledende tidsskrifter, inkludert American Political Science Review, Journal of European Public Policy, Journal of Law and Courts, European Union Politics, og International Interactions. 

Bakgrunn

Dr. Fjelstul er forsker ved ARENA Senter for Europaforskning ved Universitetet i Oslo (siden 2022) og post-doktor ved Department of Political Science and International Relations ved Universitetet i Genève (siden 2021). Før han kom til Universitetet i Genève var han post-doktor ved Washington University i St. Louis (2019-2020).

Fjelstul har en Ph.D. i statsvitenskap fra Emory University fra 2019. Dessuten har han en mastergrad i statsvitenskap fra Emory, en B.B.A. fra Canfield McCombs Business Honors Program (CBHP) ved McCombs School of Business ved University of Texas, samt en bachelor i historie og offentlig administrasjon fra University of Texas.
