Drawing on the procedures developed by the Comparative Far-right Protest (CFP) project, Pietro Castelli Gattinara and Iris B. Segers delve into ethical and practical challenges in applying protest event analysis (PEA) for comparative and longitudinal study of far-right mobilisation.

Pietro Castelli Gattinara is a Professor at the Department of Political Science at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. His research interests include party competition and protest politics in a comparative perspective, with a special focus on the study of migration and the far right.

Dr. Iris B. Segers is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Centre for Gender Research (STK), and the Center for Research on Extremism (C-REX), at the University of Oslo. Her research focuses on far-right protest mobilization, anti-gender mobilization, gender and extremism, and the politics of knowledge. She acquired her PhD in Media and Communication at the University of Oslo in 2020.


Methods and ethics webinar series

This webinar is part of the series 'Researching the far right: methods and ethics', co-organized by C-REX and PERIL (American University).

This webinar series aims to initiate and facilitate a much needed discussion about the methodological, ethical, political, personal, practical and professional issues and challenges that arise when researching far right parties, protest movements, and violent actions.

The webinars last one hour and take place every second Thursday of the month. The webinar will have one or two (short) presentations followed by a Q&A session.
