PhD Research Fellowships in Economics

PhD Research Fellow positions (SKO 1017) for the PhD programme are available at the Department of Economics:

The appointments are for a period of 4 years with 25% teaching and administrative duties. PhD Research Fellows will automatically be admitted to the Faculty of Social Sciences' PhD programme and benefit from the Faculty’s organized research training.

Two positions associated with the project “Model invariance and constancy in the face of large shocks to the Norwegian macroeconomic system”, funded by the Research Council of Norway, led by principal investigator Professor Ragnar Nymoen.

A primary objective of this project is to investigate the degree of invariance of model equations used in macro models, with respect to structural breaks during the recent pandemic, as well as in during earlier crisis. The project will use Norwegian and international data. A specific object of research will be methods that can be used to mitigate the effects of structural breaks, by the use of statistical methods as well as by the integration of real time data with econometric models.  Joint modelling and forecasting of health and the economy is another research topic covered by the project. 

For these positions, we are looking for candidates with a strong background in dynamic econometric modelling, in statistical time series analysis, in panel data analysis or in the methods for real time data collection and analysis.in the application, the candidate should indicate which part(s) of the project he or she is most interested in, together with a brief motivation.
