To succeed in societal transformation, it is crucial to understand the mental, social, economic, and political dimensions of sustainability. The research activities at the Faculty of Social Sciences reflect this. Our faculty houses some of the world's leading research environments in social science environmental and climate research. Topics that were previously dominated by natural sciences are now increasingly the focus of interdisciplinary and social science research.
Examples of current issues:
- How will changes related to the green shift and loss of biodiversity shape welfare, belonging, and polarization in the future?
- How can inherited timeless common rights, such as the right to roam, be safeguarded in a world with increasingly limited resources?
- What is the role of the state in successfully accelerating climate transition, both internationally and nationally?
