While the world economy is becoming more integrated, politics are becoming more disintegrated. While the world needs more global governance the conditions for actual political integration are lacking. While the world needs more equal opportunities for all social inequality is increasing.

This year’s Eilert Sundt lecture is conducted by Joseph E. Stieglitz, Professor of Economics at the Colombia University, USA and winner of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics. His work has helped explain the circumstances in which economical markets do not work well, and how selective government intervention can improve their performance. He has had leading positions in the World Bank and in the Clinton administration. Among his awards are more than 40 honorary doctorates. He is one of the most influential economists in the world.

This event is part of the Oslo Academy of Global Governance Initiative.

The lecture is open for all, welcome!
