Raquel Fernandez is a professor of Economics at New York University. Fernandez is visiting ESOP Monday October 4th - Friday October 8th. She is presenting at the Thursday seminar October 7th, 14:15-15:30 in room 1220.

Oeindrila Dube is an assistant professor in politics and economics at New York University. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Policy from Harvard University, a M.Phil in Economics from the University of Oxford, and a B.A. in Public Policy from Stanford University. She also received the Rhodes Scholarship in 2002.

Full-time Master Students at the Department of Economics are herby invited to apply for a scholarship for the study year 2010/11. The scholarship is awarded by The Department of Culture Studies and Oriental Languages (IKOS). The subject of the thesis must be related to the research program “The Gulf Research Unit”, which is financed by the Research Council. The program aims to advance the understanding of the connections between economic, political, social, and legal affairs in the resource-abundant Gulf States.

ESOP has a limited number of scholarships available for Master Students who plan to write their Master's thesis. The thesis must be relevant to ESOP's research areas.

Maria Reinertsen visited ESOP in the early part of the summer 2009 to work on her book "Ligningen for lykke" (The Equation for Happiness), which she has now completed. In the book Reinertsen explores the interaction between economic sizes that we take for granted on a daily basis on the one hand and ideology, the battle of interest and unexpected side effects on the other hand.
