Scholarship for Master Students (IKOS and ESOP)

Full-time Master Students at the Department of Economics are herby invited to apply for a scholarship for the study year 2010/11. The scholarship is awarded by The Department of Culture Studies and Oriental Languages (IKOS). The subject of the thesis must be related to the research program “The Gulf Research Unit”, which is financed by the Research Council. The program aims to advance the understanding of the connections between economic, political, social, and legal affairs in the resource-abundant Gulf States.

The applicant is asked to use the Golf Research Unit program description as a point of departure for their project description, particular focusing on the component:

The ”Gulf Model” as a Socio-Economic Framework

Jon Nordenson (jon.nordenson at ikos.uio.no) at IKOS can answer any questions you may have about the project description.

The student who is granted the scholarship is expected to participate in seminar activities related to the research project. Relevant language skills will be advantageous to the applicant in the selection process. The scholarship is NOK 4000,- per month over a period of six months, and the recipient is expected to hand in his/her Master thesis in August 2011 at the latest.
