During the Federation of Norwegian Professional Associations’ conference “The Nordic Model – Sustainable Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow?” on October 25, Kalle Moene was awarded their Academic Prize for 2011. The prize is given to individuals for their contributions to academic freedom and to support their work in the dissemination of knowledge. It was the Deputy Chairman of the FNPA and head of the jury, Åsmund Knutsen, who awarded the prize to Professor Moene.

During the opening of the Research Week on September 23, Professor Kalle Moene (Head of ESOP) was awarded the Norwegian Research Council’s Award for Excellence in Communication of Science. The prize was announced by the Norwegian Minister of Research and Higher Education Ms. Tora Aasland for communication of science of high quality in form and content to a broad public.
Three ESOP Scholarships and the ESOP Scholarship in Gender and Economics have been awarded to four master students.
Thursday November 3, Mehlum was appointed lecturer of the year at the Department of Economics. The committee consisted of two members from the student committee (fagutvalget) and three other students. In their justification, the committee emphasized Mehlum's ability to engage the students through his charismatic manner and creative methods of teaching. We congratulate!
