Paolo comes to ESOP from Université catholique de Louvain in Belgium where he completed a PhD in Economics in December 2012. In the Ph.D. dissertation he proposed a social choice approach to intergenerational justice.

– The internationally recognized quality of its researchers, the sparkling and friendly environment, and the common research interests make it a great opportunity for me to work here at ESOP and develop new ideas, collaborations, and results, says Paolo.

The research that he plans to work on in the nearest future includes the development of a social choice approach to better understand “fairness” when fertility is endogenous. He will also work on an overlapping generation model to address equity and efficiency issues related to the intergenerational allocation of houses in a city, and develop a strategic policy interaction framework to study the implementation of intergenerational policies.

Paolo will present one of his recent papers, namely "Urban Location, Housing Equilibrium, and Retiree Migrationʺ, in the upcoming ESOP Lunch Seminar on Monday 16 September. This is a joint work with Nicholas Sheard from Aix-Marseille School of Economics.

Paolo was born in Germany and grew up in Italy. Before moving to Belgium to do his Ph.D., he received a BA in 2004, an MA in 2006, and a Doctorate in Economic Sciences in 2011 at Sapienza Università di Roma.

Paolo's official start-up date at ESOP is 15 August 2013 and he will be sitting at ES 1018.

Welcome to ESOP, Paolo!
