Kjetil Storesletten and his co-authors, Fabrizio Zilibotti and Zheng Song, have received the Sun Yefang Award 2012 for the article "Growing Like China" published in the American Economic Review 2011. Professor Zilibotti also holds a part-time position as Adjunct Professor at ESOP, the Department of Economics, UiO.

The Sun Yefang Prize in Economic Science rewards outstanding contributions to economic science about China. The prize is considered the highest ranked award for economists in China. This is a historical award since Storesletten and Zilibotti are the first European researchers who receive the Sun Yefang Prize.

This prize has been awarded biannually by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences since 1985. It was established in memory of the distinguished Chinese reformist economist Sun Yefang.
