The southern Indian state of Kerala has long attracted attention for its remarkable achievements in human development. This talk focuses on Kerala’s development experience in democratic decentralisation and asks what lessons Kerala might offer regarding the relationship between climate change adaptation and its participatory governance?
Kerala's bold political experiments are situated in a framework that discusses propositional politics, progressive political agency and the idea of the sub-rosa as an exploratory and inventive modality and layer of space
Do you ever get scared, provoked or engaged by a book you read? Could a novel about climate change inspire your environmental engagement? Can literature make us change our habits and see the relationship between nature, climate, society and individuals in new ways? Can literature help us engage in the societal changes that climate change demands? And how do dystopian future scenarios affect us, compared to the more hopeful scenarios?

Social inequality currently gets a lot of attention, but sociologists appear less visible in discussions about inequality than what one would expect.
Has this something to do with the understanding of class or the use of the class concept in research? Can the sociological research on this topic be improved?
The classes and elites research seminar invites two prominent scholars of class analysis, Kim Weeden and Janne O. Jonsson, to address these questions based on the theoretical framework of micro classes.
