RELIGION IN CARE – CARE IN RELIGION

This session welcomes papers addressing questions at the crossroads of religion and care. Religion is deeply connected to care: It can serve as a motivation for individuals and communities to care, and affect cultural values and opportunities for care. Religion can promote and set boundaries to care – and at the same time care and caring can be arenas for promoting or setting boundaries to religion(s). Papers submitted to this session could focus on 1) The various ways in which religions and worldviews are encountered and negotiated in care, in the contexts of both informal and formal caregiving and -receiving and 2) Examining religious organizations as care providers and frameworks for care practices. We encourage approaches from non-traditional contexts and research settings (e.g. religion as potential source of cohesion and conflict in care relations, researching care in collaboration with care providers and other business partners). We also welcome conceptual papers.
