Nordic Climate Change Adaptation Workshop: "Linking Theory and Practice"

The Nordic Climate Change Adaptation Workshop took place on September 3-4, 2009, and was organized in cooperation by the PLAN project at the University of Oslo, the Nordic CARAVAN project and the Centre for Climate Science and Policy Research (CSPR), Linköping University, Norrköping. Ca 30 researchers and 8 stakeholders from Finland, Sweden and Norway met for two days at CSPR in Norrköping to discuss the challenges of climate change adaptation in the Nordic region, integrating perspectives from scientists as well as stakeholders.

The workshop centered around four main themes of which consisted of presentations from researchers as well as stakeholders, and which also gave time for questions and discussions among the participants. During day two a stakeholder panel was organized, where each stakeholder had the chance to present their thoughts and reflections around questions concerning ‘Information needs and tools for adaptation at the municipality level’. There was a general sense among the participants that the workshop was timely and important, in terms of strengthening collaboration and communication across professions and national borders and as a first step in order to move towards minimizing the current gap which excist between research knowledge and practical implementation.
