The Solar xChange project has published a report on solar mini-grids and solar lantern renting where we discuss drivers and barriers for sustainability and replication of such electricity models.

The report is written for policymakers, practitioners, regulators and researchers working on these topics. The report is especially relevant for discussions about new national regulations for small-scale, renewable mini-grids in developing countries and the public sector's role for facilitating private sector's initiatives.

The report also gives insights into details that matter for how the electricity supply works in practice both for the people who need access to electricity and for those who own and operate the small-scale electricity supply. The report can be downloaded here.

Feedback and comments on the report are welcome. Contact person: Kirsten Ulsrud.
