AdaptationCONNECTS: Combining Old and New kNowledge to Enable Conscious Transformation to Sustainability

Et overordnet mål for AdaptationCONNECTS er å få ny forståelse rundt hvorvidt og hvordan ulike typer omveltninger i samfunnet, transformasjoner, kan bidra til vellykket tilpasning til klimaendringene.

Om prosjektet

En av de største utfordringene for dagens samfunn er å begrense den globale oppvarmingen til under 1,5 grader for å unngå katastrofale følger. Parallelt med dette må samfunnet tilpasses konsekvensene klimaendringene medfører for mennesker og menneskelig aktivitet. Effektene av endringer i klimaet merkes allerede og problemene vil forverres i fremtiden. 

Tilpasning krever mer enn kun tekniske løsninger som innovasjon, mer kunnskap og bedre styring. Dette er viktige elementer, men tilpasning innebærer mer helhetlige utfordringer koblet til tro, verdier, verdensbilder og paradigmer. AdaptationCONNECTS søker å møte behovet for et slikt integrert, holistisk perspektiv på tilpasning. Forskningen i dette prosjektet vil fokuseres på fire karakteristikker ved tilpasning med potensial for å skape større omveltninger, eller transformasjon, i samfunnet for å håndtere klimaproblemene: samarbeid, fleksibilitet, kreativitet og myndiggjøring. Prosjektet vil identifisere prosesser og verktøy for oppskalering av vellykkede tilpasningsstrategier. I prosjektet vil forholdet mellom tilpasning og transformasjon undersøkes ved å bruke innovative metoder innen fire underprosjekter.

Forskningen bruker integral teori og teorier om samfunnsendringer og tilpasning til å se på forholdet og interaksjonen mellom tre kryssende sfærer for transformasjon; praktisk, politisk og personlig.
