About the project
MICROPOLPAX asks what peace means to individuals, when do they reject or support universal norms such as justice, citizenship and respect for minorities, and what are the effects of these preferences.
The framework has universal relevance but the project focuses on the timely case of Ukraine, where the Russian-Ukrainian war has brought such issues to the fore. The project is methodologically plural, drawing on qualitative interviews to ask what peace means to people, and unique survey experiments that examine people’s preferences under different norms. The knowledge gained will inform planning for the post-war situation in Ukraine.
