On 25 June, University of Konstanz hosted a student event discussing the structure and the topics of the Conference on the Future of Europe and whether it will have an impact on shaping the EU's future.

EU3D researchers organised a panel on differentiation and dystopias at the 2021 Council for European Studies Conference. 

Why is it so difficult to do conclusive research on extremism? How is studying far-right extremism different from Islamist and other types of extremism? What are the ethical dilemmas when working with young people in milieus that are frequently targeted by stereotypes and racism? And what are the dangers researchers face when conducting fieldwork?

EU3D researchers will participate in a webinar on differentiation and the Conference on the Future of Europe, organised by Istituto Affari Internazionali and the project EU IDEA on 21 June 2021.

We invite doctoral and postdoctoral researchers from Norwegian Universities and Research Institutes to present their ongoing research and discuss them in a friendly and supportive environment. Given the pandemic and absence of collective activities, we aim to bring visibility to this emerging field of research in Norway, facilitate networking and create opportunities for collaborations.

Optical character recognition (OCR) promises to open vast bodies of historical data to scientific inquiry, but OCR can be cumbersome when documents are noisy. The past 18 months have seen the launch of new OCR processors with vastly improved accuracy. In this seminar, Thomas Hegghammer will give an overview of the latest tools and present a new R package that offers access to the most powerful of them all, Google Document AI.
