Does the thought of doing media interviews or communicating your research to a general public make your palms a little sweaty?  

The young research staff at the department are generally apprehensive about talking to the media, in fear of not being correct or not feeling like "experts" in their own fields yet.

However scary it may be, we all need to face these fears at some point, after all, what is the point of research if no-one learns from it but you?

The first Tuesday Seminar of the Autumn term took place on 19 August. Visiting researcher and Assistant Professor at the Goethe-University, Charlotte Dany, presented her paper entitled 'Politicization of humanitarian aid in the European Union'.

Tatiana Fumasoli will present her paper Organizational routines, multiple logics. The case of academic recruitment during the 30th EGOS Colloquium with the general theme Reimagining, Rethinking, Reshaping: Organizational Scholarship in Unsettled Times.

The NORCONE project will stage an open half-day conference on affiliated non-members of the EU. The event will take place at the Philanthropy House in Brussels.

Dr. Marianne Riddervold from ARENA presented her latest paper '(Not) in the Hands of the Member States: How the European Commission Influences EU Security and Defense Policies', at the ARENA seminar on Thursday 19 June 2014.

Based on the discussions in the reading group, Marit Melhuus and Penelope Harvey have submitted a panel proposal for the 2014 ASA Conference: Anthropology and Enlightenment.

European Research Workshop in International Trade (ERWIT) takes place in Oslo 4-6 June 2014.

Former President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek will hold a public lecture on the Ukraine crisis and the implications for the EU, Eastern Europe and the relationship with Russia on June 2nd.

We regret to announce that the lecture has been cancelled.

In cooperation with the Research project Reassembling Democracy: Rituals as Cultural Resource (REDO) at Faculty of Theology, UiO, we arrange a guest lecture and seminar on film, ritual and sacrifice on May 26-27.

The labour reading group meeting that was supposed to take place May 31 was cancelled and re-scheduled to May 26.

At the Tuesday seminar on 20 May 2014, Dr. Christopher Bickerton from the University of Cambridge presented a paper on state transformation and the new intergovernmentalism.

Professor Sergio Fabbrini presented his latest paper 'After the Euro Crisis: A New Paradigm on the Integration of Europe' at the ARENA Tuesday Seminar on 18 March 2014.

I år markeres både 200-årsjubileet for den norske Grunnloven og 20-årsjubileet for EØS-avtalen. ARENA inviterer til debatt på Litteraturhuset om boken Det norske paradoks, og spør: Er det Norges eller EUs grunnlov som gjelder?
