PROMOTE: Health promoting and preventive research

By contributing to good mental health in the general population we can prevent and reduce the need for treatment of mental health problems in individuals.

About the group

Health promoting and prevention work must be knowledge based. We want to develop knowledge on what contributes to good or poor mental health, including quality of life. We’re also interested in how societal interventions can positively contribute to children’s development.

Our research questions:

  • How do school reforms, and in particular the Norwegian interdisciplinary topic Health and life skills affect mental health, school performance, school environment and absenteeism for children and adolescents?
  • How are parents, children and teachers affected by other mental health promoting and preventative interventions in schools and kindergartens?
  • What contributes to successful implementation and positive consequences of school reform and other interventions in schools and kindergartens?
  • What are the consequences of prenatal opioid exposure?
  • How do parents relate to the emotions of their children, and how is this related to parenting styles?
  • What is the correlation between gluten sensitivity and child development, and particularly in children with Down syndrome?
