Councils and Networks

The Department of Psychology has various councils and networks for information and exchange of experiences within the organization.

Management Meeting

The management meeting is the head of the department's regular meeting with section heads.

The meeting includes the six heads of the department's academic sections/ centers, the head of research, head of education, head of administration, study leader, in addition to the department head. The group meets every other week.

The management meeting has no formal decision-making authority but is used as a forum where the department's management seeks advice and provides information. Additionally, meetings are used for discussion of current issues, exchange of experiences, and preparation of matters for department board meetings and program council meetings.

Administrative or other resource persons are invited to the meetings.

Executive Committee

The working committee consists of the head of the department, head of education, head of research and head of administration.

The group has a weekly meeting that is used to review ongoing cases, plan cases for meetings, network, and attend formal forums where members of the working committee participate. The committee also distributes responsibilities for ongoing cases. Administrative or other resource persons are invited to the meetings as needed.

Research Infrastructure Committee

The Department of Psychology (PSI) operates a large technical infrastructure that supports research at the department. This includes physical laboratory facilities with equipment, software for research purposes, data storage facilities with computing capabilities, and research support.

This infrastructure is obtained and operated partly through external funding and partly through funding from the institute. Some investments are of such magnitude that they require allocations from UiO (University of Oslo) or larger grants from research councils. The term "infrastructure" is used broadly and encompasses not only physical laboratories but also research groups with needs for larger technical infrastructure.

The Research Infrastructure Committee is established by the head of research as an advisory body. The committee should have a diverse composition and represent the various research activities that require larger infrastructure at PSI.

The committee's tasks are:

  • Provide advice on and highlight the need for investments in technical infrastructure, software, storage needs, and research support.

  • Provide input to the budget process at PSI and contribute to prioritization of investments and the use of resources for research support.

Phd Committee

The PhD Committee discusses matters related to PhD programs at PSI. Former Research Director Tor Endestad established such a committee in the fall of 2019.

The committee will assist the head of research in addressing issues related to the PhD program in connection with admissions, training, and other related PhD topics.

The committee is not a formal decision-making body. The final decisions will be made by the management at the department and the PhD Program Council.

As of now, the group aims to have two meetings per semester, with additional meetings added as needed.
