Role of the Board
The department's director serves as the leader of the board and prepares the matters to be discussed. The administrative director acts as the secretary but is not a board member.
All meetings of the department board are normally open. The board can close the meeting for some matters, allowing only board members and the secretary to be present.
The board carries out its responsibilities based on decisions made by the university and faculty boards, and within the framework of laws, regulations, and rules that are in effect at any given time.
Most of the matters that the board deals with are regulated in the department's governance and administrative regulations.

Overall plans, principles, and priorities for the department's activities, as outlined in long-term plans, such as strategic plans and academic priorities for the department

Preparatory body for appointments
Approval of budgets, financial statements, and annual plans is one of the board's instruments for monitoring the activities.
