Academic interests

Daniel Quintana is an Associate Professor at the Department of Psychology, University of Oslo and Core Researcher at the KG Jebsen Center for Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Oslo University Hospital/University of Oslo. His main research interest is the investigation of biological systems that link psychosocial factors to health, with a focus on neuroendocrine systems and the autonomic nervous system. His research group uses various research approaches, including intranasal oxytocin trials, large-scale genetics studies, neuroimaging, and the collection of autonomic nervous system data. His other research interest is meta-science, which is the evaluation and improvement of research methods in psychology.

Research projects:

  • Deciphering the role of the oxytocin system in mental traits and physical health (Research Council of Norway FRIPRO project; Role: PI)

  • An oxytocin treatment trial to improve social skills in youth with autism (Kavli Trust; Role: PI)

  • Unravelling the role of oxytocin in behavioural flexibility (Research Council of Norway FRIPRO project; Role: PI)

  • Investigating oxytocin system dysfunction as a common link between metabolic and psychiatric symptoms in severe mental illness (Novo Nordisk Foundation; Role: PI)

  • Uncovering the role of oxytocin in neural plasticity and learning in autism (Helse Sør Øst Open Project Support; Role: PI)
