Research

Mental health and quality of life - gender and sexuality diversity (LGBT+)

This project aims to carry out a literature review and meta-synthesis of studies concerning the unmet healthcare needs related to mental health, substance abuse and violence in the LGBTQ+ population, their health-seeking behaviour and perceived barriers to seeking health care. The findings will contribute to the development of knowledge about unmet needs, which can form the basis for interventions and the development of more equal services.

Higher Rates of Discrimination and Violence Against Trans than LGB People: A Multilevel Analysis Across 30 European Countries

Based on my master's project, which used data from the EU LGBTI survey to investigate levels of discrimination and violence experienced by trans people and cisgender LGB people in Europe. I also explored how these experiences vary across countries, how they are affected by a person’s disability and ethnic minority background, and whether experiences vary between trans women, trans men, and nonbinary people.
