Research project: Prospective Follow-up Study of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (ProTLE)
Epilepsy not only affects patients through seizures but can for some people also cause cognitive difficulties, particularly memory impairments. In my research, in collaboration with the Epilepsy Research Group Oslo (ERGO), I assess memory and other cognitive functions in patients with newly diagnosed temporal lobe epilepsy who are followed over a period of several years. The aim is to better understand the course of temporal lobe epilepsy. The project is led by Kjell Heuser and Erik Taubøll at the Department of Neurology, Rikshospitalet, and is carried out in collaboration with doctoral candidate Agnes Bjørke.
Project: Literature and Memory (ReadMemo)
In collaboration with Professor Karin Kukkonen from ILOS, I am conducting an experimental project investigating the phenomenological connections between reading fiction and the experience of personal episodic memories.
Project: Nostalgia
In collaboration with MA in psychology, Selin Sahpazoglu, I am investigating neural correlates of nostalgia, using EEG. I am also writing a book about nostalgia as a psychological, literary, socio-cultural, and historical phenomenon.
