About the EEG Lab 2

Location: V1U-15 & V1U-16, Harald Schjelderups Hus
Responsible person: Anne-Kristin Solbakk

EEG Lab 2 contains two chambers (no electromagnetic shielding as with Faraday cages but does have sound attenuation) and adjacent control rooms. A washing room (V1U-18) is shared with the other labs in the basement. Both chambers are equipped for multichannel electroencephalography (EEG) recordings in human adults, having 64-channel BioSemi systems with active electrodes. External electrodes for electromyography and electrocadriography are available for both EEG systems. The lab possesses one Polhemus 3D and camera-based localizer to extract accurate EEG electrode coordinates.

Each chamber also has an eye tracker, namely the EyeLink in V1U-15 and AI-X in V1U-16. Both chambers contain Big KNOB Studio+ audio cards. High-fi studio monitors (Genelec) and insert earphones (Etymotic) are also available. Hard- and software for controlled experiments with sensory stimulation and response recording are in place.

The lab infrastructure also includes an EEG system (Neuralynx) for high-speed intracranial recordings restricted to studies of patients with drug-resistant epilepsy undergoing invasive EEG monitoring for identification of epileptic foci. The equipment is located at the Department of Neurosurgery, Oslo University Hospital (Rikshospitalet).
