About the EEG Lab 3

Location: S01, Harald Schjelderups Hus
Responsible person: RenĂ© Huster

The Lab

The EEG Lab 3 contains three electrically shielded chambers set up for multichannel electroencephalography (EEG) recordings in human adults, a shared control room, and a washing room. All cabins allow audio communication with the participant and two cabins have a live-feed video camera to monitor the participant if desired. In the shared control room, a computer is set up for Nettskjema so participants can respond to questionnaires online in the lab.

Two cabins have a BrainVision system with passive electrodes and one cabin has a BioSemi system with active electrodes. External electrodes for electromyography and electrocardiography are available for both systems. An MRI-compatible BrainVision system is also available. Hard- and software for controlled experiments with sensory stimulation and response recording are available in all three cabins.

Functional Neuromodulation

EEG Lab 3 offers transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct-current stimulation (tDCS). One cabin is also set up for neurofeedback experiments.

Sleep Research

Shared with the Sleep Lab, EEG Lab 3 also has two different actigraph models (15 x ActiGraph GT9X Link and 12 x Actiwatch Spectrum Plus), which can measure motor activity over extended periods of time. The accompanying actigraphy software can be used to estimate sleep/wake patterns based on the measured activity.
