Project logo

About the project

The PhD project studies long-term effects of head and neck cancer and head and neck cancer treatment on body image, sexual health, and fatigue/work disability within a biopsychosocial framework, where these late effects are viewed as consequences of the interplay of biological, psychological and social factors.

Sub-projects

The project includes the following sub-studies:

  • a quantitative study on body image that aims to explore associations between sociodemographic factors, treatment effects, body functionality and body image;
  • a quantitative study on work disability that aims to explore associations between sociodemographic, clinical and functional factors and work disability in head and neck cancer survivors;
  • a quantitative and qualitative study that aims to explore the issues related to intimacy and sexuality after H&N cancer treatment.

Collaboration

The project is part of PROCCA (Protons contra cancer), the UiO:Life Science convergence environment.

The project is done in collaboration with the Oslo University Hospital (“H&N Cancer; Survivorship and Late Effects” study).
