Memory after traumatic events (completed)

About the project

Witnesses in many criminal trials have been exposed to highly traumatic events. How do traumatic experiences affect the subsequent memory and cognitive performances?

This project compares memory performances of severely trauma-exposed individuals with the memory performance of non-trauma exposed individuals, with participants from Bosnia, Serbia and Norway.

The  participants are victims of war and victims of sexual violence, and the project examines important aspects of memory, such as autobiographical memory and false memory development.
