Environmental risks and polygenetic risks interactions in child psychopathology

In the context of understanding the transmission of risk from parents to offspring, we aim to examine whether the association between maternal prenatal stress and child psychopathology is moderated by child genetic susceptibility to mental health difficulties, conceptualized as polygenetic risk score (PRS).

In this sub-project, we aim to examine whether maternal prenatal stress associates with child psychopathology and whether this association is moderated by child PRS’s. This investigation is within the context of a resilience theoretical framework wherein certain individuals respond more efficiently others to stress and adversity. As such, we aim at examining whether specific PRSs will mitigate or exacerbate the negative influence of maternal prenatal stress.
