PSI Open Science Initiative

In 2022, PSI established a working group to develop and promote Open Science practices in the department's research and teaching. Group members representing diverse research approaches work together to map out unmet needs and provide recommendations and resources.

The mandate of the Open Science Working Group at the Department of Psychology, University of Oslo (PSI) is to develop and coordinate efforts towards implementing Open & Reproducible Science principles in teaching and research at PSI.

An increasing number of psychology journals and grant funders have encouraged the adoption of Open Science practices. Therefore, to continue PSI’s tradition of providing high-quality psychology education and research, it is vital that that researchers and Psychology students at PSI at all levels (i.e., the Bachelor-, Master-, and the Ph.D.-level) are familiar with these practices and can apply these in their research projects, when appropriate.

In our view, Open Science practices represent a toolbox of resources that can be adopted as appropriate for each project and subdiscipline, and never a one-size-fits-all checklist. The overarching aims of Open Science have relevance for all subdisciplines of psychology.
