Lindokuhle Khumalo recently won the Society of South African Geographers’ 2018 Bronze Medal (Best Masters by research dissertation) for his thesis titled 'Negotiating Biodiversity: An Exploration of the Conservation encounter in KwaZulu-Natal's Biodiversity Stewardship Programme'.

The Department Board decided in the meeting September 4th, to make the following statement.
From the autumn 2019, the Department of Social Anthropology will offer a new master’s programme in Social Anthropology. The new programme will be teaching focused and job market relevant, and in English, to include students from all over the world.
