International workshop arranged by the Anthropos and the Material project

Under the auspices of the Anthropos and the Material project, we are delighted to invite to an international workshop at Lysebu Hotel, November 10-12, 2014
Confirmed speakers are Inger Anneberg, Bjørn Bjerkli, Rune Flikke, Frida Hastrup, Ann Kelly, Marianne Lien, Knut Nustad, Jon Henrik Z. Remme, Henrik Sinding-Larsen, Heather Swanson, Anna Tsing, Gro Ween
We discuss two recently published articles by Laura Bear (LSE).
For the first meeting this autumn we will read two articles that have in common that they treat the relationship between work and subjectivity.
Based on the discussions in the reading group, Marit Melhuus and Penelope Harvey have submitted a panel proposal for the 2014 ASA Conference: Anthropology and Enlightenment.
In cooperation with the Research project Reassembling Democracy: Rituals as Cultural Resource (REDO) at Faculty of Theology, UiO, we arrange a guest lecture and seminar on film, ritual and sacrifice on May 26-27.
The labour reading group meeting that was supposed to take place May 31 was cancelled and re-scheduled to May 26.
Next labour reading group meeting is about precarity.
April 25 we gather again for the second seminar in the series on Deleuze and ethnography.
This time we will be given two presentations: Jon Henrik Ziegler Remme (University of Oslo) and Bruce Kapferer (University of Bergen).
The Labour reading group will meet Monday 3. March to discuss three texts by Keith Hart.
We will use part of the spring semester to read classic contributions on issues related to the understanding of labour.
Christian Krohn-Hansen introduces the texts (Thompson and Parry) for this Meeting.
The sub-theme of ritual practices will arrange two seminars about Deleuzian philosophy and ethnography.
The first seminar will take place 11. December 2013.
The seminar will consist of two presentations: Morten Nielsen from Aarhus University and Knut Christian Myhre from University of Oslo.
These presentations will be followed by a more general and open discussion, for the sake of which seminar participants are expected to acquaint themselves with a few relevant titles beforehand (please see the complete reading list).
Next meeting in the Labour reading group will be 9. December. Note that the meeting starts at 9 am sharp.
