The Noise of Time (2021) is an essayistic ghost film about the legacy of the Swedish-Argentine archaeologist and anthropologist Eric Boman (1867 - 1924) directed by the Argentinian artist and filmmaker Rubén Guzmán.

After the screening there will be a conversation about the film with the director Guzmán and SAI professor Arnd Schneider

You can also read Schneider's essay about the film here.

About the film:

The ghost of Eric Boman (1867-1924), a Swedish-Argentine archaeologist and anthropologist, returns to the place of his field studies in the northwestern Argentinian high Andes (Puna). This essay film, partly biographical, partly experimental, depicts Boman's life as his ghost wanders through the barren landscapes. He reflects upon humanity, its constant and futile struggle against time and with the difficulty to understand others. As he drifts alone, memories and dreams are interwoven with his philosophical reflections until he meets another wandering ghost: Carpanchay. Together, they will seal each other's destiny.
