About

Lulu Tessua a AnthEM PhD candidate based at the University of Dar Es Salaam (UDSM). She has opted for the theme 'Insecticides and disease control' and the title of her topic currently reads "Health and Environmental Concerns of Trial Communities Over Insecticide Trials. The case of Indoor Residual Spray Trials in Muheza Tanzania."

Tessua's research interest came about as she thought of the paradox between malaria control and the concerns of the trial communities over their health and environment. She aims to focus on the rationale of individuals and communities for participation in trials, the subtle forms of resistance against the trials, ways which people improvise to avoid the perceived effects of residual sprays and what individuals associate residual sprays with.

Lulu Tessua is currently supervised by Profs. Ruth and Wenzel from University of Oslo, also by Dr. Rosemarie Mwaipopo from the University of Dar es Salaam.
