Project Update: First project meeting Puerto Madryn, Argentina 15-18 September 2019

The Globab Trout project launched with an opening event on "working interdisciplinary" in September 2019.

In September 2019, we launched our project with an opening event on “working interdisciplinary.” Collaborating across the divide between the social and natural sciences is – as we all know - important, but also challenging. In addition to presenting each study site and developing a common framework for study across regions, the first meeting explored different conceptions of science, knowledge, and methods, and how to build on differences in a productive way. As a basis for this, we used the techniques of the Toolbox Initiative, developed by Michigan State University, and with the help of facilitators. This special focus on the “how” of collaboration has started us off on a positive and productive path, where we can openly discuss our disciplinary differences.
