Tom is visiting scholar at University of Sydney and the seminar was part of the series SSSWARM - Sydney Staff and Student Workshops on Anthropological Research Methods, organized by Sophie Chao (in the photo with Tom).

The seminar series is a postgraduate workshop initiative aiming to encourage dialogue and debate on the diversity of ways in which anthropologists understand, use, and reflect on research methods. In his paper, Tom discussed methodological lessons from his ethnographic fieldwork on digitalised everyday life in rural Norway, in addition to common methodological challenges he and colleagues Tuva Broch, Cecilia Salinas and Marianne Lien experienced through their Private Lives research. The seminar generated enthusiasm and engaging discussions!

Link to the seminar and an abstract can be found here.

As part of his fellowship at University of Sydney, Tom has also been speaker at the Anthropology Seminar Series with the paper The Socio-Environmental Dynamics of a Climate Change Posterchild, based on his research in Vanuatu.

Tom’s research stay in Sydney is funded by the The Norwegian Research Council’s Overseas Research Grant for Postdoctoral Fellows.
