TIK congratulates PhD student Henrik Schwabe, who was awarded a prize for the best PhD paper submitted to the annual meeting of the Norwegian Association for Economists, held at NMBU (Ås) on 6-7 January 2020.
Henrik’s paper “Automation, Fear of Replacement and Subjective Well-Being of Workers” presents an analysis of the extent to which automation and robotization of labor make workers’ fear that they might lose their job in the future, therefore affecting their well-being. The paper, that uses data from the Eurobarometer surveys for several thousand workers in European countries, finds that the effects of expected replacement largely depend on workers’ age.
A summary of the paper will be published in Norwegian in a special issue of the journal of the association, Samfunnsøkonomen.
Henrik’s PhD thesis, which will be finalized during this spring, is part of TIK’s NFR project on ICTs and happiness (Samansvar program).
