On digitalization and sustainability transitions

In this viewpoint, the authors call for more work on digitalization in transition studies and offer a number of perspectives to study the roles of digitalization in sustainability transitions.

Andersen, Frenken, Galaz, Kernd, Klerkx, Mouthaan, Piscicelli, Schor, and Vaskelainen, highlight how transition scholars devote surprisingly little attention to the sustainability of digitalization - despite digitalization being ubiquitous across society

The authors call for more work on digitalization in the context of sustainability transitions. They suggest a number of potential topics, including the link between digitalization and transformation of social practices, the processes involved in digital niche creation, and several other topics.
