Measuring the Impact of Industrial R&D

In autumn 2019, OSIRIS will organize a workshop with Norwegian firms on measuring industrial R&D.

R&D in the private sector

Most of the discussion about impact measurement concerns research and development (R&D) found in public organisations like universities and research institutes. However, in most countries more than half of the R&D effort is found in the private sector. This activity is likely under as much, if not more, pressure to demonstrate its effects and utility, compared to public R&D, but it is rarely discussed at all in science policy.

Workshop

To put this topic on the science policy agenda, OSIRIS organises a small workshop with representatives from some large Norwegian firms to share experiences with and perspectives on measuring the wider effects of industrial R&D. The aim is to identify key issues and challenges and to establish a meeting place for learnig and knowledge sharing.

The workshop will take place during the first half of the autumn semester - the date has not yet been set. If you are interested in participating, send an email to Magnus Gulbrandsen.
