Conference dinner, Thursday 8 June
The conference dinner and party will be held at Samfunnssalen in central Oslo.
On Thursday night, we meet for the conference dinner at Samfunnssalen in central Oslo. Samfunnssalen, from 1938, is laden with the history of the Norwegian workers' movement. It was home to Oslo arbeidersamfunn, Oslo Workers' Society, an organisation initated by the sociologist Eilert Sundt in 1864.
Samfunnssalen is located in a lively area close to Youngstorget and all of Oslo's major transport hubs.
History of the Blindern campus
Construction of the Blindern campus started in the 1930s, and construction of its main buildings went on until the 1960s. You do not have to love Brutalist architecture to love Blindern campus, but it helps! The campus is at its most green and beautiful in June when we convene for the Nordic STS conference, and so a stroll along the campus pathways is highly recommended.
