About the project:

The PhD project is focused on three main questions of inquiry:

  • What are the challenges associated with evaluating interdisciplinary/novel research in grant peer review panels and how can the organisational context in which the review panels are embedded help or hinder effective evaluation?
  • What are the challenges associated with evaluating impact ex ante in grant peer review panels and how can the organisational context in which the review panels are embedded help or hinder effective evaluation?
  • How does a change in the organisational context of peer review panels - moving from onsite to online discussions - affect panel dynamics and outcomes?
