What do disability studies and animal studies have in common? This question framed the BIODAL seminar. Mike Lundblad (ILOS), the PI of BIODAL (The biopolitics of disability, illness and animality: cultural representation and societal significance), gave an introduction to the topic of disability and animality, pointing to the historical tensions between them and the fields of disability studies and animal studies. Focussing on cultural, literary and other texts, the BIODAL project has studied how different forms of life, illnesses, relations and modes of being together are problematized, imagined and represented.
