Researchers in the SIVAC project will launch their recent book "Petroleum Industry Transformations: Lessons from Norway and Beyond" (Routledge, 2018) 

Norway's poor innovation rankings is usually explained by the high presence of oil and gas companies in the industry structure. Nevertheless, the Norwegian petroleum industry is regarded highly innovative - this contradiction seem to be the result of a different way of organising innovation processes compared to other industries.

Norsk industri har tradisjonelt svak posisjon i ulike innovasjonsrankinger, ofte forklart gjennom sterkt fokus på olje- og gasselskaper i den norske industristrukturen. På den andre siden er norsk petroleumsindustri ansett for å være svært innovativ. Svaret kan ligge i måten innovasjon organiseres i ulike sektorer.

The course will provide PhD candidates with an understanding of how new technologies, firms and industries emerge and develop within the context of the established industrial, technological and institutional structures.
